Give me your injuries and I will give you back your sport!
A 1997 Graduate of the New York Institute of Massage in Williamsville, NY, I have spent the majority of my career working specifically with back and neck injuries, and in the past 7 years more specifically with injured athletes. My style of massage is a “hybrid” cross of deep tissue, Travell style trigger point mapping and work, myofascial release and connective tissue massage. If you were to ask a current client “What does she do?” you would hear a myriad of answers since no two massages are alike, I tailor whatever I am doing to meet your needs at that moment.
I am familiar with and treat injuries bicyclists, runners and serious weight lifters face as well as common injuries from golf, race walking, repetitive daily tasks, motor vehicle accidents or weekend warrior syndrome (those people who try to accomplish a weeks worth of yard work or exercise in a weekend). I tend to be “Western Medicine Oriented”- you won’t find that I practice anything new age, I tend to stick with what is medically acceptable in our society, though I never discount anything anyone else may believe or practice.
I happily work with suggestions or orders from your doctor or chiropractor and am comfortable communicating with them, sending updates if they (or you) request it. I am also able to provide you with the correct forms and receipts for insurance reimbursement if you are covered by No fault or Disability (though I do not accept assignment-they will reimburse you directly).
Hypoallergenic products: I use Biotone products exclusively. I stick to the lotions and creams because they are less “greasy” and allow me a bit of friction when I work. I offer a variety of all natural aromatherapy oils that you can add to any massage. If you have a specific allergy to a fruit or nut oil it would be great if you could contact me a few days prior to your massage so I can be sure I have something suitable for you.
From my website you can schedule an appointment, buy a gift certificate or send me email.
In my personal life, I have been a Licensed Practical Nurse since 1987 and I have two children, one who is a Senior in college and one who is a Senior in highschool. I trail run seriously, bike and kayak recreationally (weekly or more in the summer) and I work out at home on a daily basis. I consider myself physically fit but I still look human and carry a few extra pounds! My current goal is to be able to do a mini triathalon (paddle, run, bike) before I am 40. I also plan to run a half marathon in the next year.
